Local Celebrities, Media, Business Execs to GET DUNKED! for Omaha Home for Boys
OMAHA, Neb. (May 1, 2015) – While most nonprofits will go the usual route of sending out letters and maximizing social media, the Omaha Home for Boys is taking this year’s Omaha Gives! to new heights – and depths.
A distinguished panel of guests – celebrities, members of the media, business executives and athletes – has each agreed to sit in the OHB DUNK TANK for an hour to help raise money for the Home. Shawn M. Ilg of Nebraska Realty is this year’s official dunk tank sponsor.
The daylong event – Wednesday, May 20 – will take place at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Each “dunkee” will enter THE TANK at the beginning of each hour and sit for 60 minutes – or until they raise $1,000 that will go toward benefitting the youth and youth programs at the Home. Once they hit that $1,000 mark – they will be DUNKED!
“We reached out to leaders in the Omaha community to sit in our dunk tank for and raise money for the Home,” Omaha Home for Boys Director of Development Tami Soper said. “We have assembled a very distinguished and recognizable group – and once they hit their pledge for the hour they sit, they will be dunked! How much fun is that?”
In addition to lots of wet fun, live local bands – including Naked Sunday, The 402, 5 Man Trio, Thrift Shop Radio and Two of a Kind – will play at the Stinson Park Pavilion. Locally-owned and run Boomer 1490 AM will broadcast live from the Dunk Tank ALL DAY.
John Knicely of WOWT-Channel 6 will do a live broadcast from the TANK for the 5 p.m. news and be dunked on-air to help raise money as well as awareness of the unique nature of this event for Omaha Gives! No other nonprofits are doing anything like this for Omaha Gives!
As a bonus, during times when the DUNK TANK is unoccupied by a designated DUNKEE, the public is welcome and encouraged to nominate and invite friends and family to sit in the tank
and be dunked to help raise money. Computers and other WIFI-enabled devices will be on-hand and available ALL DAY for people to make donations ON THE SPOT and help DUNKEES take the plunge!
Omaha Home for Boys Facebook and Twitter pages as well as the business and personal pages of DUNKEES will be updated with photos and videos of all the fun throughout the day.
All money raised during the day’s festivities will go directly back to providing support and sanctuary for the youth served by the Omaha Home for Boys.

ABOUT THE OMAHA HOME FOR BOYS
The Omaha Home for Boys has served youth in our community for 95 years, first as an orphanage and currently as a residential youth home.
